The snack as a moment of learning and knowledge of genuine tastes and flavors through our taste laboratory. It is an approach to the five senses in general and specifically to taste and smell.

Objective : to make children tangibly discover the four tastes and their displacement on the tongue.

Laboratories : does apple taste exist? We experience how taste is influenced by the sense of smell and vice versa.

Duration : 30 minutes.

Recipients : everyone.

Best time of the year : the taste laboratory will be created at the time of the snack which provides an opportunity to introduce the topic of the importance of healthy and correct nutrition.

Workshop and activities

This activity provides children with a small garden with various types of vegetables depending on the season to allow children to experience all the experiences of working the land: sowing, transplanting, garden care and harvesting of products.

Objectives: to touch (getting a little dirty but having a lot of fun) the work in the garden. Children will have at their disposal a vegetable garden created just for them to look after by transplanting the seedlings and / or removing the weeds and / or fertilizing it and / or collecting the products etc.

Laboratories: after the activity in the open field, there will be a laboratory where the life cycles of vegetables will be shown. Each child will be given a jar, some soil, seeds and organic fertilizer to make their own plant.

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes + snack.

Let’s oil ourselves well

Laboratory and activities

This route includes experiences of harvesting olives directly from the plant according to traditional harvesting methods (beating and harvesting with combs), as well as participation in mechanized harvesting methods (in this case the children will actively participate in the movement of the sheets for the collection). The children will bring the olives to the mill and see how the oil is extracted from the olives by comparing modern and traditional methods.

Objectives : to touch the work in the olive grove (getting a little dirty but having a lot of fun). The olive trees, the varieties present in the company will be presented, the Apulian and Italian varieties and the breeding techniques will be explained.

Laboratories : after the activity in the field, the laboratory dedicated to illustrating the nutritional characteristics and tastes of extra virgin olive oil follows. Following the laboratory of taste that has bruschetta as its protagonist. Users will learn to taste the oil from experienced professional tasters. Each child will be given a bottle of oil that they have helped produce.

What happens if brushes are replaced with salad leaves, celery branches, lemon slices? Fruits and vegetables can become tools for a truly original ecological painting.

Goal : the goal is to stimulate the child’s creativity through technique and play, using materials usually used in the kitchen.

Workshops : print with fruit and create simple and fun relief stamps. By dealing with vegetables, children will discover the peculiarities of vegetables, (such as the salad rose, the cauliflower tree) and will bring their artistic productions home.

Orienteering

Laboratory and activities

The path guides children to interpret the landscape and to orient themselves in the surrounding environment. The whole visit will be carried out with the help of a map showing the points of interest.

Objectives : this path focuses on the importance of pausing to look carefully and curiously at the surrounding landscape. The main objective is to teach children / youngsters to get to know geographic coordinates while having fun and to practice using geographical maps.

Laboratories : after the activity in the open field there will be a laboratory moment which will consist of reporting what was seen on the farm on a plan.

Duration : the hour and 30 minutes + snack.

Recipients : last elementary classes.

The herbs of the spells

The tour consists of a guided visit to the garden of aromatic plants.

Objectives : the path focuses on the knowledge of aromatic plants and their multiple uses. We want to stimulate children to get to know them and use them at home and in the kitchen.

Laboratories : the children will be the protagonists of an olfactory laboratory in which the aromatic plants will be studied before and played after with the creation of a small aromatic bag filled with the essences collected during the visit in field that will then be brought home to be used in case or as a herbal tea. Even the taste laboratory will focus on aromatic plants with a snack of bruschetta with “flavored” extra virgin olive oil.

The treasure hunt

The route consists of a real treasure hunt that will touch the most important points of the farm. Obviously the participants will be called to carry out and solve tests and riddles that will focus on the topics provided in the school programs recently carried out.

Objectives : this path is focused on the knowledge and discovery of the farm and its inhabitants through the game of treasure hunt. All the steps to get to discover the treasure will serve as a starting point to bring players closer to the knowledge of plants, garden products, agricultural tools and to brush up on playing school study topics. This path provides a broad spectrum approach to the campaign that will involve children / young people making them have a lot of fun.

Laboratories : many stages of the treasure hunt will be real laboratories, there will be the olfactory one with the aromatic plants, the orientation one with the compass and the geographical coordinates, etc.

Recipients : elementary and middle school students.
